Our website sankalpindia.net has completed 2 years on 17th February 2008. After many attempts, sankalpindia.net was developed using something known as the Content Management System (Drupal). Now this attempt of the Volunteers has successfully completed 2 years and is still dynamically evolving. On this occasion, we could see, how the site has emerged from a few pages of content initially, to 2200 pages (and counting) of information on a variety of topics. Anybody reading this report is requested to visit the Forum, and provide your view on how you perceive the development of our website.
BDO:
This week, all the volunteers were involved in the cases, providing them good exposure. Every meeting has a presentation given by the Volunteers regarding one of the topics related to BDO. This week, the presentation was on Apheresis. Also, there is research going on about the eligibility of the people who have suffered from Jaundice donating blood, and about the nutritional chart to be used by an anemic person to increase haemoglobin content. The google maps related to blood banks and hospitals will soon be available for use.

Owing to the fact that Bangalore needs blood every 2 minutes and the centralized blood help-line number 080-1062 (for 9 prominent blood banks) gets only average 5 calls per day, this number needed to be published. The first phase is Government Hospitals’ visit, to stick posters at necessary places and inform the staff members and Doctors of the Hospital to suggest this number, whenever there is a need. Later various appropriate public places will be stuck with the poster, “Looking for Blood: Call 080-1062”.
