The foreign education institutions bill is here!

Kapil Sibal has done it again! The foreign educational institutional bill is in, which aims to allow foreign universities to set up campuses in India. What more? The bill is not expected to face hitches since the leading opposition, BJP, is in favor of the bill! These universities, represent diversity in educational methods, examinations, admissions, and administration; thus, they are a potential source of innovation.

This bill has some aspects that make it wonderful. Firstly, the salary offered to the teachers will be equal to the one they were paid abroad, and not in accordance with the Indian tariffs. Good news for teachers! Secondly, quota laws will not be applicable to these foreign universities setting up operations in India. The bill treats them as private universities. Even Indian private universities are free of quota-based admissions. Similarly, foreign universities will have freedom to fix fees and decide their admission process. However, Kapil Sibal said that every child will get an opportunity to study irrespective of the economic status. As a part of a smart move the profit is disallowed to be taken out of India.

I seriously don't know how this will get implemented! But I trust Sibal, the magician! I support his decision. Success or failure of this bill is secondary. But these changes were critical for our age-old education system. Atleast, the rusted bandwagon is moving!
