Rakta Kranti Updates

Sankalp organized 12 blood donation camps in Sept 2015 collecting 772 units of blood. Syniverse: 3rd camp was organized in Syniverse on 2nd Sept. The company promoted the event very well and arranged fruits for the donors. We saw 87 people turning up for the event with a collection of 75 units of blood. Schnieder Electric: Schnieder Electric organized a camp with Sankalp for the first time at their Bidarahalli location. For publicity, all the LCD screens in company were used. The camp information was displayed at least from past 3 days. Posters were put up at all prominent places. This resulted in a huge rush of donors. Even though the blood bank was late, this didn't deter the enthusiasm of people, who were ready to wait even up to an hour to donate. 107 people could donate blood and 37 got deferred due to some medical reasons. Due to timing constraint we couldn't accommodate other waiting donors. Cargill: Sept saw some new organizations getting involved in the noble cause of blood donation. First of these was Cargill. They inaugurated their CSR initiative by planning a blood donation camp on SEpt 4th. Even when a lot of people from the 400 employee organization had donated just 2 months back, we still had a footfall of 87 people and collected 70 units from here. Fiberlink: Fiberlink are supporting our Rakta Kranti initiative by organizing regular drives every 6 months. This time the camp held on 10th Sept and we collected 31 units of precious blood. ACT Fibernet: ACT organized first blood donation camp on 14th Sept. The company management was very enthusiastic about camp and they invited all their employees across Bangalore to participate in the event. Blood donor heroes from different parts of the city came forward to help the cause. Company's commitment to the cause is visible from the fact that they not only organized fruits for the donors but also provided 30-45 mins break post donation for all of their field employees. 81 units were collected in the event. National Law School: Second blood donation camp was organized by NLS on 16 Sept. We also had screening for Thalassemia carriers which the college sponsored. It's a great initiative by college management to support such events. Both blood donation and Thalassemia screening went smoothly with lots of support from college volunteers. 54 people donated blood in the event. HSBC: HSBC organized camps at their Basavanagudi and MG Road locations on 22nd and 24th Sept. Both locations have 100-120 employees and both had about 30% of the employees turning up for the camp. We collected 21 units at MG Road on 22nd Sept and 24 units at Basavanagudi on 24th Sept. Infosys BPO: In their continuous effort to ensure safe blood availability in the city, Infosys BPO units organized 2 camps in Sept, 23rd Sept camp at JP Nagar and 28th Sept at Salarpuria Infozone, EC. Both the camps had a relatively poor response. We went to cafeteria and spoke to lot of people by distributing pamphlets about blood donation camp. Doing this helped in getting better response in the second half at both the locations. 51 and 76 units were collected respectively. DHL: DHL organized a camp on 29th Sept at their HSR layout center. 31 units were collected in this camp. Alliance University: Alliance University, Anekal organizes a 2 day camp on Sept 30th and Oct 1st every year. This time however, due to unavailability of blood banks, we could have only one day camp. Camp saw a great response from students and faculty members alike. They were willing to stand in queue for more than an hour for a chance to donate blood. We could collect only 150 units due to time constraint, which made a lot of students very sad as they could't get a chance to give life a better chance. We promised them to come back for another drive in December.
