World Blood Donor’s day:
June 14 is celebrated as World Blood Donor’s day. On this day Sankalp decided to send out a thank you mails to all its donors. There was a felicitation of blood donors and volunteers attended the function and thanked the donors on that day. Also Sankalp got 40,000 English and 4000 Kannada brochures, that is donors’ manual, printed. This was sponsored by BMTC.
BDO:
There were 40 cases from June 1st to June 20th and 2 donations were made. Most of the cases were solved when they were told to call 1062 or the other blood banks in the city. There have been 2 cases from Davangere. One of the cases was for AB+, 1 unit. The donor was found online and the case was solved.
Project Shiksha:
It gives us immense pleasure to say that with everybody’s help, the painting for the school is finished. We thank all for contributing for the noble cause. The children were astonished and filled with joy to see their school in new avatar. Also there was a small function in the school to meet the children and see the school in its new avatar. The children and teachers were all filled with joy.
CTC Disha:
All the planned phases for CTC Disha Awareness Campaign has been completed. This includes visiting the selected private hospitals and sticking (080)1062 stickers in the remaining 20 buses.

Although all reports indicate that the city is running at possibly the lowest levels of stocks for certain blood components, it is not that Sankalp is just complaining about it. Over the 2 month period from June 2010 to July 2010, Sankalp organised multiple blood donation drives with more than 1100 units of blood being collected. A million thanks to all the organisers and donors for standing up to the challenge. Here is a brief note on all the various camps held with different organisations.
The dengue infections have reached their peak in Bangalore. We have scores of patients around the city receiving treatment for the same. A direct impact of this is the increase in workload of the Sankalp Emergency Team.
