This was my first blood donation so I was excited about this camp. It was well organized and well taken care of. - PrabinSaraya (EKA)
I want to wish the little kids with thalassemia a happy day and I want to mean it too.
Today is the world thalassemia day. All over the world organisations and individuals are celebrating this occasion. It did occur to me that having been involved with thalassemia for 2 years now - maybe we too should celebrate this day.
Sankalp India Foundation(S.I.F.) has been working for voluntary blood donation since 2003. Since 2011 S.I.F. has also taken up the cause of thalassemia management and cure. In last 2 years the organisation has supported more than 400 children with thalassemia through 2 thalassemia day care centers in Bangalore, one at Indira Gandhi Institute of Child Health and the other at Rashtrotthana Parishat.
Jasper from Zambia, diagnosed with Sickle Cell Disease at age 1, faced endless hospital visits until a perfect match was found with his sister, Mercu, through DKMS, Germany. In March 2024, he received a life-changing bone marrow transplant at our Bangalore center. By November, Jasper was healthy, free from pain, and ready for a bright, joyful future.
