Care does not always come as medicine. Sometimes, it is a clean room ready when a child arrives.

For over 2 years, Chandra has worked as a housekeeping assistant at Sankalp, caring for the office and Thalassemia Day Care Centre. Everyone at Sankalp has a role in supporting children with thalassemia. Chandra sees this as hers: keeping their surroundings clean and safe whenever they arrive for care.

When four-year-old Rumaysa was diagnosed, her father, Naushad Ahmad, had never heard the word thalassemia. Soon, some told him there was no cure. Others questioned why he kept spending. How could a father simply accept his daughter’s fate?

Naushad left his work in the Gulf, spent lakhs together and travelled more than 2,500 kilometres, searching for someone who could offer more than another reason to give up.

This July, his father, Mr. Pradeep, a volunteer at Collins Aerospace, brought Amogh and Anagh to Sankalp to celebrate with our children. They shared games, gifts, lunch boxes, meals and cake. Family members also donated blood.

What does an NABL audit mean to a family waiting for a laboratory report? It means the result they receive is backed by systems, checks and standards they can trust.

On 14th June, Sankalp’s laboratory completed its annual NABL surveillance audit under ISO 15189:2022. All 10 non-conformities raised were addressed through corrective and preventive action, with every response reviewed, accepted and closed.

On 24th July, representatives from NIIF Infrastructure Finance Limited, Mumbai, visited Sankalp’s BMT Centre in Bengaluru. They saw demonstrations of the Luminex System, PBSC machine and two ventilators supported through CSR, spoke with the medical team and met a beneficiary families.
