A BMT Haplo counselling session was conducted on 16th April at the BMJH 4th Floor Auditorium, bringing together around 30 patient families from the Sankalp Thalassemia Daycare Centre. The session created a space for families to better understand the Haplo BMT procedure and openly address their questions and concerns.
Facilitated by Prathyoosha from Thalassemia Management Team and led by Abhijith, Project Manager Sankalp Program for Cure, the session offered a clear and comprehensive walkthrough of the Haplo BMT process. From explaining the medical steps involved to outlining what families can expect along the way, the counselling aimed to make a complex procedure more accessible and less overwhelming.
The STDC team was also present to support families throughout the session, ensuring that every question was heard and addressed. For many families, this was not just an informative interaction, but a step towards clarity, confidence, and hope as they consider the pathway to cure.
