Shaheed Diwas Long Live Revolution

23rd March 1931, Bhagat Singh, Rajguru and Sukhdev were hanged at Lahore Jail, they gave their lives for country’s freedom which they had dreamt off. Since then, to salute their supreme sacrifice, this day is remembered as Shaheed Diwas.

81 years later on 23rd March 2012, Sankalp India foundation organized a candle light vigil to shaheed1remember the supreme sacrifice of the
revolutionary martyrs. Around 30 people including the volunteers of Sankalp and a few volunteers of India against corruption were present at Queens Statue (opposite to mahatma Gandhi’s statue), M G Road. Slogans were shouted in the glory of the martyrs, and songs were sung in their praise. In order to mark this day, Sankalp released a book "Sarfaroshi Ki Tamanna" - which is a collection of various articles on the revolutionaries, their ideas, a few events and stories from their lives and also few patriotic songs and photographs.

“Bhagat Singh, Rajguru and Sukhdev gave their lives to free this country from the British rule. No doubt Shaheed2their sacrifice paid off and we got our political freedom,  but they dint want our country free only politically, they dreamt of our country to be free from all forms of evil. Today, Corruption, injustice are few of those evils still ruling our country. Its time we come forward and do anything and everything to free our country from these evils” says a volunteer from India Against Corruption.

Every year, this event always boosts up the energy of Sankalp volunteers. As one of the participants said "Always think what you can do for your motherland, not what your motherland can do for you", this event always makes us realise our duties towards our nation. Finally an oath was taken by Sankalp volunteers to work harder and to work 'together' to complete all our responsibilities towards our motherland.
