After the dreadful bombblast in may 2007 at the mecca masjid in hyderabad,within a time of just 15 minutes "108 service" ambulances reached the spot rescuing the victims saving many lives.this is just 1 of the instances quoting the efficient functioning of the 108 ambulance service in andhra pradesh which until now could save above 12,000 lives in a span of 2 years.started on 15th august,2005,108 ambulance service is the joint venture initiated by the SATYAM FOUNDATION and the A.P STATE GOVERNMENT aimed at providing free,quick andeffective ambulance service to the people of andhra pradesh.Equipped with the latest medical requirements,108 ambulance service also referred to as "Emergency Management and Research Institute{EMRI}"is the first in the country of its kind providing free emergency ambulance service.with its main headquarters in medchal,its present staff consists of 60 officers,60 dispatch officers,14 doctors who provide round the clock service.The communication officer coordinates with the dispatch officer and on the demand of the situation with the fire and police department on receiving the emergency call.with 380 ambulances on its service,38 minutes is the optimum time 2 tranport the patient to the nearest hospital.the ambulance consists of a driver and a paramedical employee who are medically trained to assist the patients.modern equipments like ventilators mark these ambulances apart from the basic necessities like stetcher,chair,medicines etc.

marking the start of the third successful year of 108 service,the government of Andhra pradesh has decided to add 122 more ambulances to enable even the most remote villages of the 108 ambulance service.

With the success of the 108 service in andhra pradesh over the last two years,SATYAM FOUNDATION and the STATE GOVERNMENT have now come up with the "1056 phone service" which aims at creating medical awareness among the people to be started from 15th august,2007.
