Disha Publicity Stage III

After the blood bank meet, lots of changes were to be made in the working of CTC Disha, we had an elaborate discussion with CTC management about bringing out these new changes.

Four new blood banks were interested to join us in this initiative and thus had to be brought in line wit the working of Disha. Few of the existing blood banks agreed to update the stocks twice everyday, stamping the number had to be done on the blood requisition forms, and an improvised sheet had to be given to the Response Centre Employees (RCEs).

The four new blood banks joining us are Apollo (Banerghatta Road), Wockhardt (Banerghatta road), KIMS and St Johns. They were explained to how CTC Disha works and what do they have to do to help us with the cause. Presently 17 are blood banks associated with CTC Disha.

Ramaiah, Lions, Rotary and Nimhans agreed for twice updation of blood stocks everyday,so the timings which was convinient to the blood banks for twice updates and the person to be consulted for this was discussed with the blood bank officials and this information was conveyed to the RCEs.

Stamping of the number (LOOKING FOR BLOOD? CALL 080-1062) on the blood requisition forms was done in NIMHANS (more than 1600), Sanjay Gandhi hospital (around 300), Indira Gandhi Institute of Child care (about 1000). This will be continued in other hospitals also.

An improvised response sheet has been given to the RCEs which makes it easier to update the stocks and find the number of units available according to the specific blood group.

To inform the RCEs about all the above changes brought about, we had a training session for the RCEs and explained to them about all the changes and tried to solve the problems faced by the RCEs.

In the coming days we will continue the publicity about the blood helpline number and reach more people and also improve the quality of service provided, by getting all the blood banks inline with the working procedures and also the RCEs to handle the blood requests efficiently.
