Kaviswara - Prompt efforts towards studies..

Submitted by rajat on

I had been on a most memorable trip to a small Karnataka town by the name of Shikaripura. Located 50 kms off Shimoga(Sihi-Mogge), I went to attend a programme arranged by a group by the name of Kaviswara. They called it the Kaviswara Day.

600 students have in past 5 years benefited from this institution by the name of Kaviswara. These students have come from the most rural background. Some of their families have barely anything to eat. It will surprise you if I tell you how they have benefited. They are studying in most reputed institutes of higher learning in Karnataka from REC Suratkal to Kasturba Medical College. These students came to Kaviswara when most of them would have quit their studies.. i.e. immediately after Class 10. They came to this institution where they received Chemistry and Zoology tuition's at little or sometimes at no cost. The teacher at Kaviswara went to their far flung villages to talk to their parents about their problems. he helped them take up entrance exams.. he helped them clear by his teachings too.

You know what is behind Kaviswara? It is one man.. Mr Vijay Kumar. Vijay Sir , as I refer to him like his 600 students in one man army who could inspire in his pupil the spirit of education.
From the minute I reached the town of Shikaripura everything was suggesting that this group is no common one. Any ya, at the end of the day, as I boarded the busto come back to Banagalore, I cherished every moment of the day. Actually the purity and the simplicity of this small town and it's warm hearted people gave me an experience that I will cherish for my life.

It is not lame book knowledge alone, but it is education in it's true sense that these students have received. They have grown up in class rooms where their teacher has thought them the Love for the Motherland. This is the place where traditions are cherished and culture celebrated.

Let me come to the real relevance of the Kaviswara Day. This Day marked the completion of the study for the current year's PU batch. This was the day when after finishing their exams and getting placed in various instituition's of higher learning, all the students of Vijay Sir gathered in Shikaripura to honour the outstanding performers. It was not a list of names that was read out and people come and go away with their momentos. For each student who Vijay Sir invited on stage, he had some special words. I could not understand it all, but the tears in the eyes of the students said it all. He was touching each one deep in their hearts with his love and his care.

I loved to speak to these students. i loved to share some time with them. I was honoured to be invited to their so personal programme. I was overwhelmed by their love and their care.

All i can say now, as I put an end to the expression of these feelings is that I am waiting to see them again soon:)
