“I know more hospitals than tourist places.”
Kaustav Ghosh’s words stay with you. Growing up with thalassemia in Jamshedpur, he faced more than hospital visits. Some people warned others not to sit beside him, wrongly believing the condition could spread through touch.
Treatment interrupted college. His father’s retirement savings went towards hospital care. Finding work was difficult, and the next transfusion was always something to plan around.
In August 2024, Kaustav found Sankalp. Regular care eased a worry his family had carried for years. They wished they had found it sooner.
Today, he receives his transfusions here and works alongside us in Sankalp’s finance team.
“It has been a proud moment for me,” That pride deserves its place in his story. Alongside the years spent seeking help, there is now work he can contribute, responsibility he can carry, and the knowledge that his efforts help an organisation caring for others like him.
