"..To my country and my people, I pledge my devotion. In their will being and prosperity.."

Do you identify from where has this excerpt been taken?

Can you, without redaing what  other poeple have posted, here or elsewhere, complete the entire source paragraph?

Does this make sense to us?

"....To my country and my people, I pledge my devotion. In their will being and prosperity alone lies my happiness.....".This is ofcourse from our PLEDGE which we r used to recite in our schools.......we say we love our country n we r proud of it..n to display that love we say"....I shall strive to be worthy of it..".I think it makes sense only if we promise to do that last line truly n honestly...

After 6 years of leaving school I heard these words once again. I had visited a small schools recently at their Prayer time. What I was wondering is, do these things make any sense to us.. outside the morning assemblies at school. Is that pledge only a cocktail of words that need to be recited each morning to ensure that the vigilant teachers do not shout at you for staying mum?

Do these words make any sense?

India is my country and all Indians are my brothers and sisters.
I love my country and I am proud of its rich and varied heritage.
I shall always strive to be worthy of it.
I shall give respect to my parents, teachers and elders and treat everyone with courtesy.
To my country and my people, I pledge my devotion.
In their well being and prosperity alone lies my happiness.
Jai Hind!
