February 2008: Exclusive Sankalp Report

Reporters from Vijay Karnataka and Bangalore Mirror approached Sankalp and offered to write an exclusive report on Sankalp. So we can see a report in these papers one of these days.

Cheers to the Sankalp team!!!

Rakta Kranti:
(a) Colleges:
Following the start of Rakta Kranti-colleges with a Blood Awareness Week held in Sapthagiri College, two colleges are coming up to organize one Awareness Week as well. Ammani College students were approached and the Blood Awareness Week in their college will be held the next week. The students of Dayanandasagar College were also spoken to, and a Blood Awareness Week will be held in the last week of March.

The Volunteers are also preparing for the Camp coming up in Sapthagiri College in 20th March. The students of the college are getting their doubts clarified regarding blood donation process, as a few of them are still hesitant about the idea. But they are being cleared of their wrong notions and are being motivated towards regular Voluntary Blood Donation.

(b) Companies:
On 6th March, a whole day camp was held in CapGemini. The Volunteers and Team Red of the Company were preparing for the past one-month for the camp. On the day, four Blood Banks were called. About 250 donations were made, against the estimated 400 donations. The main reason was the about 40 donors were deferred due to the fact that, they were fasting on that day for the festival, Maha Shivaratri. And a few more donors were deferred due to other reasons, keeping the precautionary and safety issues in concern.

The next camp will be held in SSS Company, on Saturday (15th March).

MSRMBDS:
A regular camp for MSRMBDS will be conducted in Dental College on Saturday (15th March).

CTC Disha:
After the completion of Government Hospitals, the private Hospitals visits have been started from Saturday (8th March). Three groups visited around 6 Hospitals. The planning for videos and media partners is continued through last week and will be continue this week too.

BDO:
The BDO team got about 14 cases previous week. And nine of them were forwarded to Sankalp through CTC. So CTC awareness program seems to be going well as of now. “CTC awareness campaign seems to be rocking”, said Ankita during the general meeting. The cases were solved and discussed upon during the meeting. The presentation this week in the meeting was about “pre-donation and post-donation care”, with a question and answer session following the presentation.

To help the reader help their way through the article, the BDO section on website, www.sankalpindia.net, is being updated, to follow a hierarchy and a proper structure. Three volunteers are exclusively working on the idea.
