MSRMBDS Blood donation drive at MSRIT

MSRIT students have championed the cause of blood donation for quite some time. They have been they font line torch bearers to ensure no one suffers due to shortage of blood. They are the exceptional ones, for where else will you be able to arrange a blood donation drive every fortnight.

On 17th may, 2008 MSRIT again rose up to help the city fight blood shortage. 35 life savers came forward to donate blood. One was deferred on health grounds and the rest donated. Each of the units will surely contribute to saving of more than one precious human lives.

This was the last camp in MSRIT for this semester. We couldn't expect much as this was the end of the semester and not many students were attending classes. We approached 5 classes of which 21 donors turned up and 20 students donated. Nobody fainted except that 2 girls felt giddy.

Another best part of this camp is that a girl who was scared of needles donated. She was inspired by her friend's talk.

With MSRMBDS more than a year old, the maturity and professionalism that is expected from the staff is still not up to the mark This drive has led to the Sankalp Volunteers do some rethinking on how to get these blood donation drives happening all the time with minimal support and maximum quality and donor safety.

We will keep you posted as things change!
