Sankalp India Foundation hosted the Sankalp Thal Meet 2026 as a dedicated platform for reflection, learning, and collaboration among its Day Care Centre partners. Bringing together representatives from over 20 centres, the meet reaffirmed a shared commitment to strengthening thalassemia management, advancing cure pathways, and placing prevention at the heart of long-term impact. The day was marked by thoughtful discussions, lived experiences, and renewed collective resolve, with the gracious presence of Shri Dr C N Manjunath, Hon’ble Member of Parliament, as the Chief Guest.
The day began with breakfast and guided tours of the Sankalp Blood Centre, Day Care facilities, and the Sankalp Thalassemia Day Care Centre. These visits offered partners a closer look at the systems, processes, and people that sustain uninterrupted care for children and families. The formal proceedings commenced with the National Anthem, reflecting Sankalp’s belief that its work in healthcare and prevention is a form of seva to the nation.
Following a welcome address and overview of the day by Rajat, partners introduced themselves and shared key takeaways from the centre tours. These reflections were placed on the Tree of Commitment, a symbolic activity that captured shared learning and collective responsibility. A concise overview of Sankalp India Foundation followed, outlining its vision and mission, with a focus on its integrated approach across prevention, management, and cure of hemoglobinopathies.
The Thalassemia Management Programme segment highlighted the structured, long-term support provided to children and families. A short programme video was followed by an overview presented by Santhosh, Programme Manager, who outlined the objectives, quality standards, and patient-centred practices that guide day care services. This was complemented by an impact story shared by a patient, grounding the discussions in lived experience and underscoring the importance of continuity, trust, and compassionate care.
An engaging role-play session on the use of structured questionnaires demonstrated how systematic data collection strengthens understanding of patient needs, treatment effectiveness, and long-term outcomes. This was followed by interactive case study discussions that explored the role of day care centres in improving quality of life, adherence to treatment, and holistic support for children with thalassemia.
The afternoon marked the formal welcome of Shri Dr C N Manjunath, Hon’ble Member of Parliament, whose visit to the BMJH–Sankalp Centre for Paediatric Hematology, Oncology and Bone Marrow Transplantation preceded his participation in the Thal Meet. His presence was acknowledged through a formal welcome and felicitation of dignitaries and Day Care Centre partners. Dr Manjunath also inaugurated Sankalp’s new education and awareness posters, reinforcing the importance of sustained public engagement.
In his address, Dr Manjunath recognised Sankalp’s work across hemoglobinopathies management and cure, while placing strong emphasis on prevention as the foundation of lasting change. He highlighted the urgent need to reduce new thalassemia cases at the source through systematic antenatal screening and community awareness. His words resonated deeply with partners and reaffirmed the shared understanding that eliminating thalassemia requires coordinated effort across policy, healthcare systems, and communities.
The event concluded with partner experience sharing and a collaborative roadmap discussion, once again centred around the Tree of Commitment. Feedback from partners and group photographs marked the close of the meet, capturing a day defined by openness, learning, and shared purpose.
Sankalp Thal Meet 2026 reinforced the strength of true partnership. With voices from across the country coming together, the meet renewed collective focus on prevention, strengthened approaches to care and cure, and reaffirmed a shared vision of a future free from thalassemia.
