Bangalore: Many years ago, a person's death due to unavailability of blood stirred the conscience of four engineering students. The quartet resolved to ensure that no one died due to shortage of blood.
BANGALORE: For techie Tej Kumar, 30, donating platelets and blood is the new mission. "The minute I get to know that someone of my blood group (B+) is looking for blood or platelets, I rush there to help," he says, who's been doing this for the past three years.
BANGALORE: "Though he is 21, he looks like a school boy. His growth is curtailed. There's no puberty-related growth. Some testosterone injections may help," said Dr Mamta V Manglani, an expert on thalassemia from Sion Hospital, Mumbai, looking at Kishore Kumar, a youth who had to discontinue his studies due to the disorder.
BANGALORE: A 70-year-old from Istanbul in Turkey needed blood and help came from Bangalore. Ahmed, while undergoing medical tests, was found to have Bombay O+ blood group.
