Rakta Kranti: together bringing in blood revolution

Battling the impending shortage during the summer, Rakta Kranti Companies continue organizing regular blood donation drives in companies. Through this month most of the blood banks in the city had good stocks of blood. But when the stocks were less, the blood donation drives were organized then. So in the month of April, the drives were organized in ARM, SLK Software, Alcatel Lucent, Prateek Apparels (Sankalp’s first advent into the textile industry). There were a total of 533 units collected through this month.

The newer opportunity that was found in the previous month was that there exist a lot of potential donors in the manufacturing sector. Though there are many people who are eager and enthusiastic to donate, there were many more who did not understand the importance of voluntary blood donation.

Organizing these drives in the months of summer to ensure certain minimum level of blood in the city and avoid an acute shortage is the main aim. And the objectives towards that goal are being achieved as planned, facing and getting through the road blocks in the path. As we have always said, Bangalore now has one problem less to think about as we put in our blood, sweat and tears into making the problems of blood shortage just another nightmare of the past.

Accordingly, the College wing of Rakta Kranti had organized a very small awareness week in Vijaya College and helped to organize the drive in the college after two years since its last camp. Though the drive happened after two years gap, the number of donations was around 250. And there are talks going on with other colleges too now.

The schools wing, now are wrapping up all the blood awareness weeks that they started as it not possible to get permissions in anymore schools due to exam season.
