Project Tiranga

Operation Flood leading to White Revolution:

Operation Flood was a rural development programme started by India's National Dairy Development Board (NDDB) in 1970. One of the largest of its kind, the programme objective was to create a nationwide milk grid.

It resulted in making India one of the largest producers of milk and milk products, and hence is also called the White Revolution of India. It also helped reduce malpractices by milk traders and merchants.

The Solution - AMUL:

JPEG ImageAmul (Anand Milk Union Limited), formally registered on December 14, 1946, is a dairy cooperative movement in India. Amul spurred the White Revolution of India, which has made India the largest producer of milk and milk products in the world. It is also the world's biggest vegetarian cheese brand. The Amul revolution was started as awareness among the farmers.

Congratulation Abhinav Bindra

Submitted by arunava on

You might ask me 'who is Abhinav Bindra?'. But honestly I did not know him, until yesterday. His name does not show up on many sports publications or sports sites. However, he is as much an athlete and competitor as anyone who receives attention in those media outlets.

Abhinav is an Olympic gold medallist.

Independence Day

HAPPY INDEPENDENCE DAY

INDIA, our motherland. Once in a while this word invokes in us, a great sense of Patriotism..A sense of unity with all fellow citizens..A salute to our National flag..Proudly singing our National Anthem..Cheering for our motherland by shouting out Vande Mataram (or maybe by forwarding SMSs and mails which say so)..And remembering a few names who dies for the cause of freedom..

Rocket Artillary in War

A military tactic developed by Tippu Sultan and his father, Haidar Ali was the use of mass attacks with rocket brigades on infantry formations. Tippu Sultan wrote a military manual called Fathul Mujahidin in which 200 rocket men were prescribed to each Mysorean "cushoon" (brigade). Mysore had 16 to 24 cushoon of infantry. The areas of town where rockets and fireworks were manufactured were known as Taramandal Pet ("Galaxy Market").

History of Indian space research

India's experience in rocketry began in ancient times when fireworks were first used in the country, a technology invented in neighbouring China, and which had an extensive two-way exchange of ideas and goods with India, connected by the Silk Road. Military use of rockets by Tipu Sultan during the Mysore War against the British inspired William Congreve to invent the Congreve rocket, predecessor of modern artillery rockets, in 1804.
