Elections and the Power
Its obvious that we cant have Nation wide elections very often. Instead, there can be a periodic monitoring system to evaluate the performance of the govt ( how much the govt had accomplished the election promises, economy of the nation,etc.) . for every 24 months this can be done and if the govt fails to do wat is expected , then instead of Re-election , the same party can be at power but atleast the CMs,MLAs should be changed to some other person . This will induce atleast the ppl at MLA level to do some measures to save their post.
Initially this system can be implemented in MLA level, and later can be expanded to higher posts too.
Mid Path...
I agree with the concern here that contensting election incurreda heavy cost but its not the reason why we govt not performing should get a chance to stay.
I think we should hava mid -path. Like seeing performance after every 2 year and if tis not satisfactory, govt should given one year time again if it does not perform re election shouldbe held.
Also, its not necesaary to have election in all the Constituency but in place which are showing low growth or progress.
My opinion...
I think decreasing the tenure term is not the solution. To have a better and performing government all the citizens should vote. This will automatically lead to a very stable and best people making the government.
More frequent change of government means more frequent scraping of old projects and more frequent launch on new ones which ultimately leads to no where.
Every govt. tries its best to show work so that it has impact on the coming elections, however this work actually materializes around the end of the term, hence the need for frequent elections so that we can throw a party out when they do not perform well.
But, conducting elections incurs a heavy cost, which could be used in other useful purposes . Moreover, as I think, a party in power requires time to stabilize and start working, and show results.
Hence, I am not sure of what to choose. However, politics in our country, if it improves, having a party on a longer run would be good.
