New course for Education

Submitted by pooja on

The new HRD minister Kapil Sibal has proposed to have 1 national board and no class 10 exam. Well, I don't know about the idea of scraping the class 10 exam but the idea of having one national board is definitely a change I dreamed of in our educational system.

As young students of the primary school most of us thought(wrongly) that ICSE and CBSE boards were always chosen by students whose parents had transferable jobs. But only in high school, especially after 10th we realised that the students who studied in ICSE and CBSE knew way more than us(who had studied in state board)in our PU classes.

And the other thing is that each state has its own syllabus and the All India exams they conduct are in a way not fair because not everybody will have the same syllabus........and if there is one national board the exam results will be in order of true merit because everyone will have studied the same thing!

If this plan of having one national board is well executed then this will become a milestone in the academic history of our country!!!

I am too from a state board. When i came out from my town i could feel the gap between the state board and CBSE OR ICSE board. I too feel state board are not at par with this national board. Hope to see this change and lakh and lakh of state board student getting benefit from it.

Sure one single board across the nation would be the best thing to have. The hurdle however, as far as implementation of this ambitious programme is concerned, is the linguistic division of the country. Many states are strongly going to protest against this plan as they will want to keep the control of the subjects taught to the children and the syllabus in their own hands. Let us home that this Government which has come out with a great majority is able to take up bold steps, not just to announce but also implement the ideas. Thanks Pooja for pulling up a great topic?

I have not studied in any state board though, thanks to my parents for understanding the future toil, I do understand the gap that has grown. In a nearby town by my village in Bengal, there is this well established govt school, which has not seen a student in the past so many years. Just because WB state education board had removed english language from their curriculum. All the students drifted to a nearby ICSE convent school. Now that WB govt has included english in their subjects, due to lack of awareness, the school is still empty..
