Chikungunya is a disease caused by Aedes aegypti mosquito.
The symptoms are high fever,sever pain in joints and in some cases red eyes.
According to virologists the diagnosis of the disease is not easy even through blood tests.
There is no specific drug to treat the disease.
Atleast 80000 people in Gulbarga,Tumkur, Bidar,Raichur,Bellary,Chitradurga,Davanagere,kolar and Bijapur are affected since Dec 2005.
Dos And Dont's
*Do not store water in huge containers.Change water at least twice a week.
*Mosquito that infects people breeds only in fresh water and is usually a day-biter.
*Clean containers with cleaning agents everytime you change water .
*Look for larvae where fresh water is stored.

DISEASE IS NOT FATAL
ITS NOT CONTAGIOUS

My sisters experience.
My sister had called me today even she is suffering from the same disease. It was the fourth day since she got infected. She is recovering now. She told she had fever as well as sever pain in joints.She says it was not tolerable, she had tough time.According to her the disease lasts for 2-3 days. Whole of chitradurga district is affected with this disease.
It is widely spread
The disease is now widely spread in karnataka in this summer because of the water problems. Because people use the stored water and drink the same.
