Volunteering

People often think that volunteering is something that is done in free time. I beg to differ. Volunteering is not a time-pass to be done in free time. Volunteering is not something that should be done to feel good. Volunteering is a sense of duty, a sense of resposibility towards your motherland, towards society. Volunteering, in fact is a way to pay back your debt.

Debt? What debt can we possibly have that needs paying back? Well, we the privileged class have taken various benefits from society throughout our lives. We may want to believe that hard work is the lone contributor to our success. But you are wrong if you think so. Since we were born we were given every chance by the society and system (Government and other social infrastructure, that we easily blame for everything that is wrong) to achieve our goals and ambitions. If you look into the general structure of society and policies that governs us, you'll find that nearly all the systems are biased towards the privileged class (rich). If you still don't believe this, i'll give an example. There is a village in Maharashtra that is the source to major percentage of water in Mumbai. Sad part is the people of that village has to travel many miles daily to fetch a bucket of water. Things were different few years ago. But then the water needs of one of the biggest metros of world expanded exponentially and those villagers had to pay a price for that! This is just an example of how our lives are made easy by making others suffer. Nearly every city has a similar story. Farm land and slums are cleared to make malls, SEZs and apartments.

So yes, we do have a debt to pay! One might argue that we pay this debt in form of taxes. Why should we spend more time? Well, i somewhat agree to this. But if you have a passion towards you motherland, if you are the one who don't believe in cribbing about issues but wants to solve them, if you want to be a part of nation building, if you want to be a change agent, then volunteering for a cause is an ideal start for you. If you ask me, volunteering and nation service is my religion.

Whether it is blood donation or education, working for a disabled or disaster-relief, choose any cause of your liking and start to volunteer. I know feeling good about something is also important and gives motivation to many. But believe me, once you start to volunteer passionately for any cause, this good feeling will automatically come. So if you want to embark on a beautiful journey of nation-building, start volunteering. In the process, you'll bring many smiles to people.

I dont exactly know wat to say. the thing is i feel happy to see any type of (feel good or duty) volunteering now. y?? bcoz all my life i hav seen ppl only bothering about themselves. yes, they wud help poor, u know wen?? during festivals. and for wat?? sawaab or punya.everyone is different. no matter wat the reason is, i feel it is gud wen many ppl r contributing a cause. whether it is for feeling gud, time pass or duty, they r helping a little everytime they help the kids or donate blood.. not everyone wants to bring a change.. usually the attitude is "jaisa chalta hai waisa chalne do" ..so u and the ppl lik u who tak volunteering as religion must work really hard towards building a better nation, must be a bit more uncomfortable as u call it and surely there will be bigger changes than just a kid being educated. but even one kid getting educated is important, it is fine if ppl dont share our views, it is nice if they share our work n just work towards betterment of society.. and not just donate something during ramzan n diwali and boast about it...!!! hope u get my point..
