Udaipur Palace: Exquisite and colorful!

Located in the heart of the city of Udaipur and towering over the Lake Pichola,the City Palace unfailingly infuses a sense of awe in the hearts of its onlookers. It is the standing testimony of Rajput passion for art and architecture despite the fact that the exterior is not as elegant as the interiors.The old part of the palace complex today serves as a museum that stores the legacy of the Rajput rulers for the visitors. Two of the newer portion of the palace have been converted into hotels.

During the nine days of Navratri, feasting and fasting take precedence over all normal daily activities amongst the Hindus. Evenings give rise to the religious dances in order to worhip Goddess Durga Maa.

Durga, in Sanskrit means "She who is incomprehensible or difficult to reach." Goddess Durga is a form of Sakti worshiped for her gracious as well as terrifying aspect.

Kutch Emroidery: Known for its Uniqueness

This folk embroidery is done using cotton or silk thread on cotton cloth.Certain styles use silk and a satin-like material too. Square chain, double buttonhole, pattern darning, running stitch, satin and straight stitches are used to create intricate patterns. Thanks to the liberal use of multi-shaped glass pieces, the garments literally glitter. And, every bold stitch and glass piece used is reflective of the rituals and folklore of the Rabaris.
