Empowering Care Teams: Annual Training Program Elevates Thalassemia Management Centers

In November 2024, the two-day Annual Training program for Thalassemia management teams took place in Bangalore and Ahmedabad, with 21 day-care centers participating. The program aimed to strengthen healthcare teams' skills to ensure every patient receives optimal care and can lead a normal life.

A touching highlight was the emotional welcome from patients who had been treated at the centers and were now in remission. These patients, offering greeting cards and smiley badges, reminded the teams of the profound impact their work has, inspiring them to continue their crucial roles.

The event also facilitated knowledge sharing, as center teams exchanged best practices, success stories, and challenges. This collaborative environment allowed participants to learn from one another and deepen their commitment to improving patient care.

Each center developed clear action points for the next quarter, aimed at enhancing patient outcomes. With growing success in full match and haplo match treatments, the teams left the training confident in their ability to cure more children in the future.

The training also addressed the urgent care needs of high-risk children, equipping teams with insights into managing these complex cases. In Ahmedabad, 23 team members from 8 centers participated in an interactive session led by Dr. Rajeshwari, focusing on patient counseling. Meanwhile, the Bangalore session, with 16 team members from 10 centers, covered Sankalp’s vision and provided guidance on essential policies and practices.

Both events served as valuable platforms for networking and collaboration, with discussions expected to have a lasting impact on patient care and outcomes.

Looking ahead, the training program has given Thalassemia management teams a renewed sense of purpose, clear goals for the next quarter, and the tools needed to meet future challenges. This marks a significant step in advancing the mission to provide hope and healing to children battling Thalassemia.
