Sankalp India Foundation together with KLES Dr. Prabhakar Kore Hospital and Jawaharlal Nehru Medical College start a thalassemia day care centre in Belgaum
Sankalp Program for Thalassemia Management took a leap forward on 5th May 2016 with the inauguration of the 'Jai Shivshakti Center for Thalassemia Management' at KLES Dr. Prabhakar Kore Hospital and Jawaharlal Nehru Medical College, Belgaum. The centre was inaugurated by Dr Lawrence Faulkner, who has been our guide, strength and inspiration. This centre allows us to reach out to children suffering from thalassemia and related blood disorders from North Karnataka with the same quality of treatment and care that we have been offering at our thalassemia centres in Bangalore. It is a start of a journey towards health, well-being and a good quality of life for 150 more little angels from North Karnataka. With this, Sankalp has 675 children undertaking care for thalassemia in all 3 centres in we are involved put together. A big thanks to Jai Shiv Shakti Health and Education Foundation for coming forward to support us for the this centre.
We have a huge challenge before us. Several of these children have never taken chelators. Several of them have developed complications arising out of insufficient care and management. Nevertheless, with the commitment of the team at KLE group we are confident of implementing a plan to take these children to better health and well-being.
On a longer term, Sankalp India Foundation is committed to build a network of thalassemia centres which work together to ensure that every child has access to quality care for thalassemia within a reasonable distance from their home.
As for us, it's an honour to be involved, an opportunity to give life a better chance and a responsibility towards the innocent little ones and towards our nation.
