Even as Sankalp's Disaster Management and Mitigation Wing worked through the highs and lows of the disaster prone Sikkim, Sankalp's Blood Donation Wing scaled new heights this September with Rakta Kranti and Disha achieving new personal landmarks. Here is a snapshot of Sankalp BDO for Sep 2011
Rakta Kranti:
Rakta Kranti conducted 9 blood donation drives in the month of September with 1200+ donors attending the drive with 1100+ of them donating blood. This is the highest collection of number of blood units in a single month for the organisation.
Reva College Of Engineering: The 4th blood donation drive at Reva College of Enginerring was organised by Sankalp on 7th September 2011.As last time, we had excellent support fro the team red volunteers and professors from the college.The team red volunteers did a great job in reaching out to every classroom and spreading the message of blood donation among the students.We had over 320 students attending the camp with 294 of them donating
Capgemini: 3 blood donation drives were organised at Capgemini between 12th and 14th September.As usual the response from employees was very good and we managed to have 45% increase in number of employee participation.We had a total of 382 donations with over 450 employyes attendsing. Apart from these, a blood donation drive was also held at Capgemini Indigo on 28th September where there was a massive turnout of donors throughout the day. As many as 180 donors turned up in a span of 6 hours leading to a collection of a whopping 168 units of blood.
BlueDart: Sankalp organized its 1st blood donation drive at Bluedart on 16th and 17th September.The drive was organized at 3 offices of bluedart. At all the 3 places the volunteers from the company ensured that every employee knew about the blood donation drive and they motivated them to donate. As a result of this we had 280 donations with 320+ employees attending the drive.The higher management of the company also supported very well.
ACIL: Sankalp organized its 1st blood donation drive at ACIL World wide on 23rd September 2011 where over 35 employees donated blood.
The Karnataka team of Rakta Kranti were also on the move this month. While a Team Red training was held at Yuvraj College, Mysore in order to motivate and educate students before the blood donation drive happening there in October, several other meetings were held with colleges in Mysore, Belgaum and Davangere to work out the possibility of organizing blood donation drives in them in the coming months.
Disha:
This September had a special meaning for the Disha team as well. On 13th September 2011, Disha turned 5. The helpline that was born in 2006, today has gone on to make a difference in the lives of thousands of individuals. Apart from the celebrations, 16 major hospitals of Mysore were visited to spread awareness for the blood helpline. As an added bonus this month, 2 new blood banks have joined Disha- Columbia Asia Hospital, Bangalore and KR Hospital Bangalore. Several others are in the process of joining in. On a statewide scale, almost 100 hospitals across Karnataka were called this month, many of which were sent publicity resources.
