There is a special reason for excitement and enthusiasm in Sankalp Volunteers in the month of October. Bright young people, who have the implacable desire to make this world a better place join the organization and begin to carve their way for a revolution.
The support and co-operation of the Principal of MSRIT Dr Rajanikanth, ensures that each year we reach out to the first year people in a big way. The permissions were in and the stage was set. There were posters being made, strategies to visit classes were being drafted and energy was being pumped in to ensure that each first year at lest gets to know about the organization. The class talks that pour Volunteers went forward with gave us a good 250 new blood donors ready to take on the challenge.
The registration forms were indicating that a large number of people are interested in knowing more. A programme was organized for the first years on Oct 12th, 2007. As always, we started sharp at 4:30 PM, the stipulated time. Slowly more and more people turned up. In few minutes we had 80 students from the first year keen on knowing more.
Our senior Volunteer introduced the organization and elaborated on what Sankalp does and how. The two hours that these young minds spent with us were to decide their future involvement with Sankalp. It was to decide whether these people will be the next generation revolutionaries. And so, there was no candy talk. IN the little time that we spent with them, we emphasized on the fact that we are looking for people with the right intention –and no more. Some senior volunteers shared their experiences working with the organization.
The programme concluded with a cup of tea and commitment for 70 off students who said they wanted to join the organization.
Sankalp as an organization has its biggest strength in its people, the Volunteers of Sankalp, Fearless, selfless individuals who are keen on doing whatever it takes to make this place a better one. With no incentives, no recognitions, no certificates and no applauds, it is only the cause that we have to offer to anyone who wants to join in. We have handpicked and found the best ones in a process that lasts for years. The journey for these young people has just begun.
