It is correctly said that the children of today are the citizens of tomorrow. The culture and principles that adopt during their childhood is what they follow throughout their lives. Thus acknowledging this fact and planning to make these young minds know that voluntary blood donation is good and a necessary action to eradicate the blood shortage Rakta Kranti schools started its work. Motivating the bright young minds of high school (class 8, 9, 10) to become regular voluntary blood donors when they turn 18 years of age is the main aim of this wing.
This Project was being taken as a pilot attempt to understand if it is possible to inculcate in the young bright minds the facts that will make them the guardians of the people needing blood in the future. It worked and it has re-inforced our belief that this is indeed the way ahead to irradicate the shortage of blood February has been yet another great month for this cause. Though there were issues like many schools had their preparatory exams or study holidays going on, there were many schools who extended complete support to help us spread the message of voluntary blood donation among their students.
The children showed great enthusiasm and interest to know more about voluntary blood donation and the other things like eligibility criteria for donating blood, the situations where blood is necessary, the various blood groups and its components and compatibility, etc...
The Blood Awareness Week which was conducted had sessions spread over a span of 3 days. The first day was introductory talk, a skit and other motivational talks using posters and videos (if feasible). The second day, there were competitions like essays, elocution, painting and collage arranged. And the third day the prizes are distributed among the prize winners.
