The Hypocrisy of Indian Politics

Submitted by rmourya1 on

Many years ago, before the satellite TV revolution, there used to be a video newsmagazine called Newstrack that I rather enjoyed. There is one scene from it that I still remember. If memory serves me right, it began with a shot of the bottom of Devi Lal's sports shoes as he reclined on a garden chair, his foot rested on some kind of support. (I could be wrong, but I vaguely remember he wore a banyan and a dhoti on top.) An interview began, and the interviewer asked him why he had made his son, Om Prakash Chautala, the chief minister of Haryana.

Thank God I am human!

No inspirational talk this time; no narration of any touching story....just felt like thanking the Maker through this note. Last night in my goodnight chat with Him...I thanked him Him for making me a ‘Human being’. Yes, I feel lucky in this front, I am a human and hence can EXPRESS my love, my feelings, my emotions and fire in me in a more profound manner than any other living being on earth.

Yet another Wow moment for me.. for us Indians.. While the people of Mumbai are spending this night uncertain whether they will see tomorrow’s sunrise, the Prime Minister of our country yet again ‘condemns’ the attack and I am trying my best to finish yet another unit of yet another subject to be written in yet another exam.

Whose work is it anyway!

Our Organization has been a WORKING organization right from day one. Ideas are good. Thoughts are great. Knowledge is important. Talent rules. BUT in the end it is work that counts. Acceptable or unacceptable - we have lived by this code. We have pushed ourselves and those who have come with us for more work.

Why do they serve us?

A poem written by my 23 year old cousin, Chinmoy a chopper pilot of IAF:

Why do I still serve you?

How you play with us, did you ever see?
At Seven, I had decided what I wanted to be;
I would serve you to the end,
All these boundaries I would defend.

Now you make me look like a fool,
When at Seventeen and just out of school;
Went to the place where they made 'men out of boys'
Lived a tough life …sacrificed a few joys...
