Sankalp BDO activities
After having an eventful day at Mangalore, the Sankalp Disha expansion team moved on to visit Bangalore's sister city of Mysore. Again sufficient background work and inputs from senior transfusion specialists from Bangalore meant that the plan was well in place for another day of extreme buzzing.
Taking Disha across Karnataka is an activity that will take some time to materialise. Sankalp however, has made a firm and sedate start to this activity. Phase 1 of the expansion plan is to visit the major medical hubs across Karnataka and understand the ground realities that exist there. With this idea in mind, a Sankalp team left for the coastal belt of Mangalore, Udupi and Manipal following it up with a visit to Mysore.
After the blood bank meet, lots of changes were to be made in the working of CTC Disha, we had an elaborate discussion with CTC management about bringing out these new changes.
Summer brings with it a strange pleasure and fun to all of us. School children look forward to summer vacations with excitement to pursue all their non curriculum activities. People plan vacations and excursions in summer, visits to hill stations are quite common. Summers are a time where the the trekkers and mountaineers go into the woods to answer that voice from within to scale the mountains. Ice cream lovers relish all their flavors in summer. Summer months in India are a wonderful experience. Summers does bring in problems too, summers are hot.
If you are a healthy, young Delhiite and not a regular blood donor you are contributing to the Capital’s abysmal voluntary blood donation record. According to the National Aids Control Organisation’s latest country-wide “Voluntary Blood Donation” report, voluntary blood donation in Delhi is a poor 29.3 per cent. Delhi shares space with States such as Rajasthan, Jammu and Kashmir and Bihar.
World Blood Donor’s day:
June 14 is celebrated as World Blood Donor’s day. On this day Sankalp decided to send out a thank you mails to all its donors. There was a felicitation of blood donors and volunteers attended the function and thanked the donors on that day. Also Sankalp got 40,000 English and 4000 Kannada brochures, that is donors’ manual, printed. This was sponsored by BMTC.
On 15th March students of the MS Ramaiah Dental College took up the role of Life Savers and organized a blood donation drive. This was the second blood donation drive organized by the college to ensure continued supply of blood to MSR Blood Bank under the MSR Memorial Blood Donation Services. 32 life savers came in to help. After ensuring the health and well being of the donors, 30 people donate d the precious gift of life and thereby ensured prompt blood supply for roughly 3 times the number of patients.
When there is a talk in town about student's participation in Blood Donation, the name of MSRIT is taken with warmth and high regards. This organization has over the past few years nurtured your men and women who have gone into revolutionizing the way blood donation works in Bangalore. 4th April wan another very special day in MSRIT when yet another blood donation drive was organized.
