Blood donation drive at MSRIT

MSRMBDS:

The second blood donation drive for MSRMBDS was held on saturday (4/10/08). The response was good and 26 units were collected (against the permitted 20units). The permitted number of units was less this time, because of the annual blood donation drive being organised next month in MSRIT.

The number of people registered were 33 but 7 people were deferred making the final count to be 26 units. There were no instances of fainting. Only one girl felt a little giddy after donation, but soon felt fine.

The baton is being passed. When Sankalp was born, people doubted the number of days that it would continue to work. When Sankalp volunteers passed out of MSRIT, there were doubting Thomamses who believed that there is little to expect from MSR Memorial Blood Donation Services. After a year, when the last of the Sankalp senior volunteers are on the verge of passing out of MSRIT, they are continuing the tradition. They are passing the baton handed over to them by their seniors in college. They are passing on the responsibility of keeping the work going.

Camp 11@Hotel Management College

MSR Memorial Blood Donation Services hit yet another milestone. MSR Hotel Management College conducted the 3rd blood donation camp in 6 months becoming the first college to have executed the small and regular camp strategy throughout the organization.

It happened on 3rd October, 2007 the only remaining year of MSRHMC came forward to donate blood. A total of 24 units were collected of the 29 donors who came to donate. As always, the Hotel Management College was full of energy and enthusiasm preparing to give life a better chance.

Blood Donation by students of MSRMC May 26th, 2007

The Saturday, May 26, 2007 held a very special importance for the students of MSRMC. For the first time they became active partners in the process of ensuring blood for all. Sankalp Volunteers were there in the class by 9:30. A short announcement brought in about 12 donors immediately. The number was good enough for one batch of blood donation. The enthusiastic students proceeded to M S Ramaiah Blood Bank for the donation.

3rd Blood Doantion camp in MSRIT

With constant effort and work now the scenario of blood donation started changing in MS Ramaiah blood bank.. MSRIT Collage had collaborated with sankalp to fight the blood scarcity and promote voluntary blood donation among student.. According to understanding between the collage and sankalp now collage will organize a blood donation camp at every alternate week where only 30 -50 units will be collected so as to provide consistent blood supply to blood bank, which will benefit the people in hospital you can not arrange for exchange unit.

Camp 1 @ MSRIT April 7, 2007

The donation of 29 units of blood @ MSRIT on April 7th, 2007 was a very important moment for all of us. After years of effort to streamline the blood availability and issue at M S R Blood Bank, this was the first major step to make it stronger and better for the needy. As planned, there was no big hype. Only 3 beds and about 10 Volunteers. The stage was set. One by one 39 donors from 3 different classes walked in to donate. The beauty of the programme was the elaborate arrangement for the donors. At no point in time was there any chaos.
